I am a EU national and would like to set up a small business in Belarus. Can I register this business in my name? Can I pursue a business in Belarus while living in the EU? Will I have to assume additional costs and liabilities?

Yes, you can act as a founder of a legal entity and do business in Belarus. As for additional costs, you will have to get your passport translated into Russian or Belarusian and have the translation notarized to secure state registration. Also, all registration documents should be submitted in your presence. Foreign nationals acting as founders of legal entities in Belarus are not obliged to assume any additional liabilities.
